Grey, No Sew Vest, DIY

Because of all of the questions I have received about this project,
I have done a quick video on this No Sew Vest.
This vest is very Similar to some of the other vests I have done, with slight variations .
You can visit them HERE and HERE
Hopefully this will answer some of those questions.
Written instructions will be below as well.
You can basically make this in about 5 minutes.
Have Fun.

Tutorial
Things you need
  1. Large or Extra large T-Shirt (I use Hanes)
  2. Scissors

Here is a quick, four minute video on how I did it.
WATCH ME.

  • fold your shirt in half
  • cut wear the red lines are
  • open the shirt back up: cut a straight line, up the middle of the front.
  • cut three strips from one of the sleeves
  • tie where shown.

This is very similar to this T-vest I did last Summer.
Link below the picture.

Easy, No Sew projects are some of my favorite things.
Do you like easy no sew projects?
Here are a few more I have done.

 Have a great Weekend.
Come back tomorrow,
to see what Sailor Sam has been up to.

  1. Oh WOW! This is awesome! If I wasn't madly in love with my husband, I'd go cut up one of his t-shirts, but I'll wait until I head to the store and buy one! GREAT IDEAS! You're so inspiring! Love your blog!

I was wondering though, one of the comments that was left mentioned the Sarah vest? I don't see it any where and just want to make sure I am not missing out on something cool. Thanks again, and the videos are awesome and really helpful. Keep those coming!!

  7. Question... If I were to make this for someone petite do you think I should use a small or medium shirt? And would you size down for the other altered shirts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think a medium shirt for a petite person would work well. I am 5'8 and I weigh about 140 pounds,or around 10 stones in England, and I wear a large mens shirt for this project. I hope this helps.

  12. I made one of these vests with an old tee shirt i had. It is really cute, but a bit to small. I will have to pick up another larger shirt and give this one to my younger sister. Now my only question is my husband had asked me, how I am going to wash it without it falling apart, I was wondering if you had any suggestions....

    1. it should wash just fine if it is a knit shirt. I have washed mine several times.:)

  19. Thank you so much. I had an old baggy t-shirt in my wardrobe that I wasn't keen on and I needed something Summery (as we are having some real sun here in England for a change. Thought I would probably make a hash of it as I didn't want to cut up the front part but it has turned out perfectly.

I'm going to the charity shop now to find some more t-shirts.

  20. This is awesome! Is the video gone? It won't open. I am doing this, but can't determine the width for the top of the straps and the center of the back. And I don't see any seems on the shoulders on your shirt. Did it have any? Mine does and the look awkward.

    1. Hey Joey, no the video is still there. You can go to my you tube channel at look at the video if you can't get it to open here. there are no seams i have cut out all the seams. The video should show you a little better. I hope this helps.

    2. Yes! I got to the video. Apparently the t-shirt I chose (because I wanted a bright color) was all wrong. It was too heavy and scructured, with thick seams on the shoulders. I'll see if I can make it into something else. But, I will find another t-shirt and try again. Thanks.
